Maharana Pratap's birth anniversary is celebrated every year on Shukla Paksha Tritiya of Jyestha month according to the Vikrami Samvat calendar. This year it will be celebrated on 22nd May 2023, Monday. Maharana Pratap was born at the home of his mother Maharani Jaiwanta Bai and father Maharaja Udai Singh in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan. It took place in 1540. When Maharana Pratap was a little boy, he was referred to as Kika. Maharana Pratap was crowned there in Gogunda.

In the Battle of Haldighati in 1576, Maharana Pratap, along with about twenty thousand Rajputs, faced the eighty-thousand army of Mughal Sardar Raja Mansingh. Maharana Pratap had a favorite horse, whose name was 'Chetak'. Ashwa Chetak also died in this war. Shakti Singh saved Maharana Pratap who was in the surrounded enemy army. This war lasted only for one day but seventeen thousand people were killed in it.

Akbar also put out every effort to capture Mewar. Additionally, Maharana Pratap refused to accept Akbar's submission. He battled alongside Akbar, the Mughal emperor, for many years.
